Sounds like a good idea in theory, but in reality there's either not enough rain to pull them out fully, or they fill up with leaves and debris. from the roof. We tried them in various ways, unfortunately after the return date, but never got them to work for us. I ended up just using what was left of the gutters to channel water away from the house.
