Review on πŸ”— Makita P-45777 Guide Rail Connector Kit: Streamlined Black Linking Solution by Jerry Olson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A few annoying facts

There are two things that confuse me about this product. As others have said, there are no instructions. Without going into details, when looking at a longer strip, there are two ways to orient it in relation to a shorter strip. On the one hand, the cleats can be interpreted as helping to keep the shorter plank in place relative to it. Going the other direction, the lugs could be interpreted as holding the bar flush with the slot (albeit with a slant). Looking at the pictures on Makita's website I could see that the tabs are oriented "out" so they align the bar on the inside. relative to the rail, and a hole in the shorter rail maintains this relationship with one of the set screws applying downward pressure. Secondly, as some have said, I believe that two sets of rods should be used. If you look at the Canadian and European seller, it is actually sold as a set of two bars (one for each slot). It's a little annoying that either Makita USA decided they only needed one when the rest of the world thought two were needed, or Makita USA simply refuses to sell it as a set. For reference, see P-20177 for a two connector kit (all sellers are either CA or Euro). Edit 1/28/2021: Revain posted a notification that this review received 50 "useful" likes. I didn't even think about it, but I'd like to add that Makita USA appears to be selling the above multi-bar kit now.
