I highly recommend this professional clamp meter. It allows you to measure many different values of AC and DC currents and would be very useful where testing is required, especially when rebuilding and testing circuits. I'm no expert, but we live in a house that dates back to 1915, and I assure you there are *many* surprises within the walls of the old houses. A few years ago we were renovating and had to open the wall. Inside, to my horror, was a thick black electrical wire that was split into two sections at one end, and those wires were simply twisted up and away from each other like an inverted Y. The bare ends of the wires were just that. Naked! I can say that it was quickly separated from the old switchboard! Since then, our electrical service has been upgraded and I can breathe a sigh of relief. Also, the electrical circuits may have undergone changes over time that are not marked on the switch or fuse box, or have not been accurately marked. Without a good clamp meter like this, it's not always easy to tell if a wire is hot or not, and safety is paramount. It's very important when it comes time to plug in a ceiling light or replace an outlet. For our purposes, accuracy within n is not critical, but I find this to be fairly accurate and capable of much more than cheap clamp meters and more. more than we will ever need. If money is no object and brand name and extreme precision are important and necessary, you may want to look further or hire a licensed, insured and committed electrician. I recommend the latter if you're not sure what you're doing. However, I think this clamp meter would be a good gift. I really appreciate that the seller's customer service offered to email the user manual in PDF format (the buyer asked this question and the seller replied). I will request it now.
