This is my first NAS. I got it because I wanted to have one folder for all my iTunes media, which became impossible because my external USB drive was too small, only 6TB and I have about 15TB of media in iTunes. In addition, a single USB stick with only 150 MB/s on USB 3.0 was also too slow when reading and writing. I really like this product and would give it 5 stars if it didn't have the following cons: I bought 2 of these devices in a 4 fill version. My primary drive is RAID 0 and my secondary drive, which is a backup to mirror the primary drive, is RAID 5. I get read and write speeds of 300-500MB/s with Seagate IronWolf 10 and 12TB drives, which considering the Operating very well is a hard drive. about 150 MB/s. I also wanted to set up a PLEX media drive outside of iTunes that would allow me to play non-DRM media without an external internet connection, which is required for my iTunes to authenticate its DRM media. Pros: 1. A very powerful suite of software applications to monitor disk and network performance, monitor disk usage and configure raid2. Setting up a RAID3 system is relatively easy. Excellent 10Gb Ethernet performance.4. Voice communication through the NAS speaker lets you know when important system events occur, such as: B. Startup and Shutdown. The LED indicator is also very useful.5. The free version of PLEX comes with the device, but I upgraded to the paid version. Cons: 1. Couldn't get started with Thunderbolt 3, it might not be a device, it might be my computer or a Thunderbolt card, but the tech support to get it working seemed lackluster to me. I ended up just using a 10-bit ethernet connection as it was faster than my RAID anyway and was more or less up and running. So don't count on using Thunderbolt 3 with this device on a Windows 10 PC without taking a high risk that it won't work. I'm spending 30 hours and can't get it to work properly with this device.2. I bought 2 of the 4 bayed versions and 1 had an issue where it randomly shut down every 5 hours for no reason. Technical support could not diagnose the problem and tried to blame everything but the device itself for the problem. For example, the tech said it was my outlet and then my UPS, but it wasn't either. I ended up canceling tech support and returning it to Amazon for a replacement, which has worked flawlessly so far. The initial setup of the device is a bit confusing as you have to register with the cloud first and then register a separate name on your network. I'm not sure what to do first. Also changing the cloud name for the device was confusing when I had to replace the old one. I went back to Amazon for the new one and wanted to reuse the same name.4. I upgraded my main NAS with an M.2 SSD (Samson EVO plus 1TB) to use as cache. Installing M.2 is very difficult as there is almost no space. I cut my hand multiple times trying to fit it into the device and it took 1 hour to finally fit into the M.2 slot. I don't even think I can use the second M.2 slot because it was even more difficult to reach. Remember, if you're looking to upgrade, prepare to fight for access to your device.
