Not my first set of Z-chains/cables. I just got a Dodge Ram Gen 2 and bought them as I didn't have tires that fit those sizes. There was some "unexpected" snow that was deeper than expected. I need to check on my daughter who lives 22 miles from here. The snow was getting (as my grandfather would say) "slippery like snot on a doorknob" and my BFG tires weren't having good traction. I stopped and put them on. Took a trip back and forth and never slipped or twisted a tire. I would like to mention that 2 years ago we had bad snow/ice, it was quite deep. I rode a K5 Bazer with 31" tires and used a Z chain/cable on the Blazer at the time. They worked great back then too, but after I pulled about 3 different cars out of the ditch, one of the cables broke. I don't drive them anymore and I don't plant anyone, but for "regular" driving they should last many, many years. the snow isn't very thick (1/2 inch?) or where the road is clear enough you can see the sidewalk, the ride will be a bit rough. not so. Once you hit the snow, which is a little thick (3-4 inches), the ride is smooth. Agn, the type of device. Still much better than dealing with full-fledged snow chains!
