The best tape I've ever had!

This tape has quickly become my favorite in the store and I have many tapes. As a left-hander, I can finally read a tape right up for the first time in my life. I also like that the sizes are clearly numbered to 1/16" (see photo). The return spring is very strong and the band is stiff when stretched. This is a great band all round.

Pros
  • Easy to use

  • Some little things

Well! Reads well on both sides!

NO ERROR. Have you ever read a tape upside down and written 5/8 instead of 3/8? You can't do that with this band. I'm not keen on the labeling; The cleat spacing is very well marked at 16 inch intervals, however the FOOT markings are small and not easily distinguishable from other markings. Other reviewers have so far been unsatisfied with the durability. I find the mechanism works well, is easy to remove and locks securely. , there is a pencil sharpener-XA that doesn't fit a carpenter's…

Major improvements over the basic tape measure

Like most people, I have several Stanley tape measures lying around the house. They are alright. Roulette isn't that important anyway, is it? Not right. FastCap Roulette has found a way to greatly improve upon the humble roulette. The scale is marked to an accuracy of 1/16 inch, not just a line. This greatly simplifies and speeds up reading.2. The scale is applied to both sides of the tape. Provides much more accurate measurements.3. There is a closure at the bottom of the band as well as a…

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Not automatic

It may not stand up to abuse from contractors but for general use around the home and business this tape is by far the best I've seen. on both sides and the markings are absolutely accurate compared to my Starrett calipers. The grip is reasonable and has both the typical sliding thumb button and a small button at the bottom for quick index finger interaction (this button doesn't lock). space though). The band itself is very strong and remains rigid even when stretched up to 8 feet. It even…

  • Good product for the price

Nice stiff tape measure in a small body but hard to read and quality issues

You want to love Fastcap tapes as they try to be innovative but unfortunately the quality just doesn't match the smart features. Fit and workmanship patchy to bad. Pencil sharpeners are cheap and wear out quickly. The rotating belt hook is difficult to use and much more difficult to simply put in a pocket. The finger brake on the bottom requires so much effort that it's of no real use. Trying to disengage the top lock and put your finger on the bottom brake with one hand is an exercise in…

Could be better - Length

I want to love these straps but the quality of the strap doesn't seem to hold up. This is the second exact same cartridge I have - the first one just stopped working. This is my entry in the woodworking workshop in the garage. I absolutely LOVE the readings on the tape. I strive for precision, so when reading the tape I want to know which side of the 1/16 inch line to cut. That's why I love this band, but the quality of the mechanisms inside the band leaves something to be desired. My first…

A great tape that everyone needs

Another great tape with an innovative design from Fastcap. The standard backing is measured at both ends of the strap. This means no more tilting your head to read it and no more errors due to mistakenly inverting numbers. It is easy to read left to right or right to left. How cool is that. In addition, the steps are bell-sharp and the 1/16th marks are labeled 1, 3, 5, etc. Other features include a built-in pencil sharpener that gives your pencil a precise point. As with all FastCap bands, the…

wonderful band. in tape measures

I read some negative reviews about it and to be honest I don't understand them. I can't tell you how many times I've found when using two Stanley tapes that they can be up to 3/16 inch apart, but I haven't found that to be the case with FastCap tapes. I always prefer to have separate bands on the saw and where the job is being done. When you're on the shop floor, FastCap tapes are as accurate as you need them for the initial cut, and in some cases where tolerances are available, even for the…

Markings on tape measure good

I ended up buying two new tapes to complete my 10+ years. Tape measure Old Craftsman 20 feet for use in the shop. FastCap Lefty Righty and Tajima 16ft models. Both have a 7/8" thick blade (wider than the Craftsman) that can stick out 8 feet. Both models are white with black lines (except that the 1/16 marks on the FastCap are red. While I used the FastCap Like markings, Tajima's accuracy, tested on a 36" Starrett steel ruler, is even comparable to an accuracy of 1/32" in contrast to FastCap…
