In our environment (worship) we are humble users of two Shure wireless microphones, one handheld and the other a waistband/sash. They are used once a week for an hour. We switched from disposable 9V alkaline batteries to NiMH batteries after researching which solution was best for both the environment and our application. Until recently we used Rayovac Platinum AA/AAA/C/D/9V universal charger and Rayovac Platinum 9V Green rechargeable pre-charged NiMH battery (PL713-2) with 3 batteries rotated through the mics. While this worked, the battery cases were oversized (too big), the terminals weren't hardened so they "heated up," and most importantly, the charger could only hold one 9V battery at a time. (Why 3? We had 4, but one died early. The other was almost useless to us due to frayed terminals, so we really only had two.) The Tenergy 4 Bay Charger with 4 9V batteries is a very different installation, and a lot more useful in the real world. Taking up less space, the charger holds all 4 batteries and secures them between weekly uses. A separate LED indicator for each battery shows whether the battery is charged (red) or ready (green). Now that I've had the chance to run all 4 in circles, I can report that they easily rival Rayovac's performance. Perhaps they top that performance because they're rated at 220mAh, so 20mAh more than Rayovac. We have not yet checked whether this is the case. I believe the Tenergy batteries fit nicely in the ultra-sealed battery compartment on our Shure hip pack (so the battery doesn't fall out when the speaker is moved). - no more stuck green batteries without damaging the terminal!
