5" #14 Wood Screw with .54" anchor head is great for joining finished wood in fences, pergolas and other structural applications. I always pre-drill and use a drill to form a head pocket so that the head of the truss is perpendicular to the axis of the screw shank. See photos. The upturned pockets are later sealed with a small amount of wax copper sealant intended for the ends of the treated wood. These screws have a strong and durable grip that minimizes movement or twisting of the treated wood from natural warping over time. You look great too!
