Review on EHEIM Carbon Filter Professional Pieces by Erin Leuenberger

I purchased a new Pro 3 2075 in September 2012 which is covered by a 3 year warranty. The filter leaked after 2 years and destroyed my $350 wooden stand. Water leaked near the power cord. After searching the internet I found that this was a common problem with Pro 3 filters released before August 2010. There have also been countless reports of Eheim's customer service department ignoring customer emails when contacted with warranty claims. I emailed them and immediately the next day. I received a reply asking for the serial number, shipping address and the retailer where I bought the filter. I replied with information and that was the last I heard from them. I've sent them 4 more emails since then but they completely ignored them. I became another victim of their fraud. It is clear that Eheim is engaging in fraudulent activities by promoting its filters as "premium" products with a 3-year guarantee. However, they will do their best NOT to honor the warranty. I may have to call them every day and write nasty emails to get them to acknowledge my problem. I know some of their victims have obtained head unit replacements this way after sending threatening emails and repeated phone calls. However, it shouldn't be that difficult. I have another Pro 2 filter that was also leaking after 6 years of use. From what I heard the company was bought and the customer experience has been terrible ever since. Now it's about cheating. I will never buy an Eheim product again. Carefully! Update: I called their 800 number and was told they shipped the main unit to my old address and it was back at their warehouse. They sent another one to my new address. It was also annoying that my letter was set to ignore for some stupid reason.
