I make it simple and clear. I had no problems with this player. I haven't experienced a disc that doesn't play on it, including new releases. For example Wolverine, Sleeping Beauty, Up, Gladiator and Braveheart. Quick Facts: - Looks great - Loads fast - Outputs 1080p video - Decodes DTS-HD and TrueHD audio - Has a good remote control - Converts standard DVDs very well - Amazing price. Connectivity: I think it was actually a wise decision not to include an ethernet port as many gamers that do seem to have more trouble playing movies. I've seen many complaints from people who couldn't get discs to play on their expensive players when mine didn't. As far as I know, as long as there is some kind of internal storage in the player, the player doesn't need internet access. The memory allows you to load the disk, after which it is ready for use. The internet function is for firmware updates for players who need them and movie extras for those who need them. However, a firmware update for this player is still possible. Just go to the Magnavox website, check for updates, find your player, download it, burn it to a disc and insert it into your player. I still haven't found the need to do this, but it is possible if it's ever needed. in summary. I bought this at Walmart for $98. It came back for $89 a few weeks ago. If you can get it, get it. This is an inexpensive player that allows you to enjoy high-definition sound and video without spending a tidy sum. If you (like me) aren't interested in disk-based web add-ons, then why pay more? Highly recommended. Updated December 23, 2009. I have decided to make the Nb530mgx a real test for anyone who doubts or denies. I just bought Terminator 2: Skynet Edition which is notorious for not working on newer and more expensive Blu-ray players with an internet connection. Many people say that this only works for a player with a 2.0 profile or that you need a code for a player with a 1.0 profile. Nb530mgx is a 1.1 profile player, it started and played well. No firmware update or code required. It took a few minutes for a message to appear saying I know I don't have a 2.0 profile that isn't connected to the internet. That I have to get one to use all the features, but it still loads. It took another minute, filled in 3 triangles on the same screen and I ended up in the main menu. I went straight to the enhanced version, hit the play button and it started as usual. So there you have it, you don't need to spend a lot for a quality player. I'll say it again, if you can find it there, go get it.
