Review on ACDelco D1492C Original Equipment Ignition by Ron Josey

The black plastic bezel broke the ignition on my 01 Buick Century which made starting very difficult. So I decided to replace it and use this part. It was more work than I expected. I had to remove the entire steering wheel, then remove the housing on the steering column to remove the old ignition cylinder. Then trace the wire up the steering column to where it connects above the accelerator pedal. So the bottom cover has to be removed as well. After replacing everything, the key turned, but the car would not start. That's when I realized I needed a chip in the key. You need to take your old key to the dealer so they can read the resistance in the chip (there are different levels). Then take the new keys with you so they can copy them to the correct chip key. After that it worked great! I am very happy. More work than expected but saved $500 on dealer costs. :)
