Repaired a rusted oxygen sensor bracket to hold the check engine light

Used it to fill a rusty gap on the oxygen sensor connector which was causing air to get into the 02 sensor and an incorrect reading caused. This caused the check engine light to come on. You really need to prepare the surface. I used a brass wire brush to remove the loose rust which was a lot. I wore goggles for a chemistry lab and afterwards my face was covered with rust. Then mix the products. Yes, this is one of the uses when mixing epoxy. I've used almost everything anyway. Mix thoroughly and let steep, it thickens quickly and is easier to apply when thick. When first mixed it is quite runny. I stir with a wooden coffee stirrer. It was a tricky application because it was an exhaust pipe under a truck, so gravity was working against you. I managed to put on one coat and put on more. The putty levels well. It kind of drips, but then it's so thick it stays in place most of the time. The O2 sensor was still connected so I fixed the plug around the O2 sensor gasket and tried to introduce material into the gap. I then leave it on for the full 24 hours before the trip to fully cure. The truck has 2 catalytic converters and the original owner replaced the passenger over 50,000 miles ago so I know the other one is nearing the end of its life. But air intrusion into sensor 02 due to a rusty fitting made the problem worse. So far so good, I've been driving it for 3 days, the check engine light didn't come on and the exhaust putty is still there.
