Happy as a hammer - Fixed a cracked cast iron skillet

After cracking open one of my antique cast iron skillets I realized I have nothing to lose and of course I can try, I'm glad that I did that! I followed the instructions and carefully cleaned the crack, then using a dremel with a small ball drill bit, I made a groove in the crack for the JB Weld to grip. I cleaned the area with a degreaser and applied the product. After 24+ hours the filler had set and I sanded it down. Water tested overnight, no leaks. Thoroughly cleaned the pan and went…

So far so good - fillers, adhesives and sealants

Used this to repair a cracked '97 Nissan hardbody exhaust manifold. Availability wasn't great so it was a bit difficult to distribute the way I wanted and I worked on it for too long after it started freezing. It looked pretty rough but was still leaking when finished to the point where it didn't look like a complete hack anymore. I've put just over 1000 miles on the repair so far and haven't removed the heat shield to check but I can't hear it on start up like I did before the repair so I…

Bad fit. Difficult to mix.

I use JB Weld products to repair almost all of the equipment we rent. I loved JB Weld until I used this product. This product was a big disappointment. It is difficult to mix and does not adhere well to steel. It's very clumpy so it doesn't spread evenly or smoothly. We wired the large muffler to bare metal. The paste wouldn't stick and when we applied it to the through holes it just fell out on the other side. We used Permatex 80333 Muffler & Tailpipe Putty for the same muffler. Permatex…

Only for people like BIG BANG Sheldon

You must not "hate" the application. Nothing for those who do not want to contribute to the preparatory work, scope or form of the application and assume that the product will come about by itself. Will not happen. Clean the metal with something strong like ammonia, or better yet, scrape the surfaces. Do not interpret JB as "leaf". They don't make a peanut butter sandwich. Mix it in a glass right up to the moment your hand starts to pull away from the bone. Apply the epoxy to the toothpaste…

Works so far as advertised

I bought this to fix a cracked exhaust manifold on my 2004 Honda Civic. Since the catalytic converter is built into the exhaust manifold on this car, replacing it would be very expensive. So before I bought a new cat I decided to try this thing. I smeared it on quite thickly and let it set for several hours, holding it with a hair dryer for a while. I let it dry for about 8 hours before putting it back on the engine block. As I tightened the bolts, I noticed that a crack had formed in the JB…

Repaired a rusted oxygen sensor bracket to hold the check engine light

Used it to fill a rusty gap on the oxygen sensor connector which was causing air to get into the 02 sensor and an incorrect reading caused. This caused the check engine light to come on. You really need to prepare the surface. I used a brass wire brush to remove the loose rust which was a lot. I wore goggles for a chemistry lab and afterwards my face was covered with rust. Then mix the products. Yes, this is one of the uses when mixing epoxy. I've used almost everything anyway. Mix thoroughly…

  • Perfect for outdoor activities

  • Has cons

Waste of money, time and effort

I prepared all the surfaces using a dremel with wire brush attachment. All surfaces became shiny, pure metal. The first impression of the product is very small. It says 3 ounces, but that's by weight, so obviously a lot less than 3 fluid ounces. However, it weighed less than 3 ounces on a verified scale even with the included tub, so I feel like I've been scammed. Next: It was a thick, dense paste, not the liquid you see in the video. I suspect this was because the foil was damaged or not…
