Works but is misleading

Cable fits my 2015 VW Golf. The sound quality is better than Bluetooth and it charges my phone. However, my phone shows up as an AUX device and not an iPod, defeating my purpose of buying a cable. I also don't think this accessory has been approved by Apple. The metadata in the About section on my iPhone shows a blank version, a serial number, and the name of a Chinese manufacturer I've never heard of.
