When I switched to a new camera I also considered Coolpix based on the reviews but decided to pay extra and buy this ELPH knowing that I would use many features: slow motion video, tilt-shift thumbnail filter, isolated color filter and fisheye filter. Based on the Olympus C-60, the ELPH 100 HS is a huge upgrade. Developed a few technological generations ago, the C-60 did not have image stabilization, which is of great importance. This is especially noticeable when taking photos without a flash. I hooked it up to a class 10 8GB card and it works fast. Some people have complained about the lag between frames, but I'm perfectly happy in that regard and wonder if memory card speed has anything to do with it. The "out of three" function was standard, but this is one of the non-automatic shooting modes. The macro is also only available in non-automatic modes, so having to switch modes, scroll to the "no filtering" option, and then turn on the macro is quite a hassle. The quality of the photos is sometimes disappointing - low-light photos tend to be grainy, and in other photos (until the exact reasons are clarified) the colors appear too bright. On most of my other cameras, Photoshop's automatic levels/contrast/improved Almost always color the image, but on this camera those Photoshop features usually make it worse so I spend more time making manual adjustments. In general very happy with the camera. Image quality could be better, but it's not bad for the price range. The size of the camera is amazing and easier to carry in my pocket than my previous Olympus. The battery life is phenomenal.
