We bought these for our annual snorkeling trip in Florida. I did a lot of research because there is a risk of carbon dioxide poisoning with this type of mask. In my opinion, the risk is not zero with them either, since the silicone edge can leak if worn incorrectly. But we don't swim in it for hours. Usually underwater for 15-20 minutes at a time and remove the mask for a while. And the design seemed to be the best we could find in the price range. i really like it My children aged 7 and 12 had a harder time adjusting and settling in and said they are not fans and prefer the traditional mask and mouth snorkel. It took my wife a little longer to get used to it, but overall she was fine. If you dive and are fully submerged in water, the mask can put a lot of pressure on your face and cause discomfort, but we avoided this. In general we are satisfied with the 4 masks purchased.
