I installed these LED downlights in 22 year old stemmed glasses. The finish is more brown than bronze but goes quite well with the bronze hardware on my front door. I knew the flange was 1/2 inch smaller in diameter than the original flange and that this would be a problem because the original flange dented the plaster. While there is indeed a "ring" around the lights (which the plasterer will remove over time), it's a lot less noticeable than I thought. And when the lights are on, the unsightly thing is gone. Frayed halo glows around the flange as these LED lights are fully encased. They shine downwards, and downwards only, while a lightbulb screwed into a socket inside the vessel allowed light to 'leak' down the flange due to the uneven texture of the stucco surface. Also, every few months I had to climb a ladder to clean the case as dead flies would settle in the glass. These lanterns stay clean! Although the light output is a little lower than other modified LED lights; they are still too bright. I leave the light on all night and prefer half brightness.
