Review on Hygger Advanced 24/7 Lighting Cycle LED Aquarium Light with Full Spectrum, 6 Colors and 5 Intensity Settings - Customizable Fish Tank Light for 30-36 inch Freshwater Planted Tank with Timer by Jerry Gonzalez

I love the 24/7 light feature!

I replaced an old Hygger bulb. It worked well, it wasn't full spectrum but enough to grow low tech plants. It had a manual dimmer and brightness function. I had to take care of it during the day. Then I saw this newer version but kept using my old one. Fast forward about a month ago. I was tired of manually controlling the light so I updated it. I'm so glad I did. I only use the 24/7 feature in this world because it's great and does what I need it to do. The set of color combinations is excellent and brings out the colors in my aquarium and livestock. In the late hours of the night when the light is mostly blue my night owls show up and I can really enjoy their action. Best of all, it turns off and on again in the morning! I have to say that with this improved light my plants are getting bigger, healthier and looking happier compared to the old model. Now, there are some caveats regarding the lower cost of this light compared to others. The 24/7 lighting function is set unchanged. You cannot change the length of time, the intensity of the light, or the colors. It's set in stone. You have to live with it. The only thing you can use a trick to set is the on and off time. Connected controller sets the time as it goes. For example, if you want the lights to stay on after an hour and the controller is set for 8am, I would choose the 8am setting in my current 9am. If you want the light to turn off an hour earlier, set it to an hour earlier than the controller says. However, this still shifts the on time by +/- the time you chose. The manual and this listing also states that the default off time is set to 10:30pm, but the light actually stays on for 20 minutes. 22:30 sets the last leg before shutting down. Unfortunately, the controller has no memory. In the event of a power outage or blackout, you must set the lighting time again manually. It's a bit agonizing trying to remember instructions or waiting for the correct offset time (if needed). feet on this device. You only get the short version. I really wanted my light to be higher off the top of my tank. The old Hygger had 2 different pairs of legs. One was a little bigger. I had to do some tweaking to do this, but it's still not exactly what I wanted. Especially if you don't have an aquarium with plants. The light length can be too long and might be an issue for me if I didn't have floating plants that would block/absorb some of the light. However, these days this automatic light has made my life so much easier and brings me more joy in my aquarium seeing all the bright colors.
