I don't like this VCR. As other reviewers have pointed out, when rewinding or fast-forwarding, it doesn't stop when you press "play" or "stop" - it continues to play several minutes of the tape. This is very annoying because you can never get to the right place. I've seen other reviewers complain about this, but I didn't think it would take so long or be annoying to get to the right spot on the tape. Is that so. Another big annoyance is that every time you use the VCR (recording, playback, rewind, fast forward), the clock disappears. The VCR clock is the only clock in my living room and it's annoying not being able to use it while the VCR is on. This unit also looks cheaper and less modern than my 13 year old VCR which it replaced. The remote is awful - tiny buttons with smaller labels that are sometimes incomprehensible (how do I know "CM/ZERO" means a button that advances a minute?). The buttons are placed in totally unintuitive places - every other remote I've seen has the channel and volume buttons on the top of the remote, but on this one they're on the bottom and ridiculously small. just stupid design decisions. Has Panasonic decided dissuading people from buying VCRs because they're ugly, clumsy, unnecessarily difficult to use? My old Panasonic VCR was much more comfortable than this one. The only advantage of this VCR over my old one (aside from the fact that my old one broke) is that you can fast forward 1 minute with a single button (although I never needed this feature on my old VCR because it stopped). when I wanted it to stop) and it automatically sets the clock. However, this is not enough to compensate for its shortcomings. My advice: if you're buying a replacement VCR for a broken VCR, spend your money fixing the broken one, not buying it.
