Review on πŸ”© Kreg Jig Heavy Duty by Patrick Locke

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Ideal for 2x material, built in raised planters. Longevity is questionable.

***Update*** I contacted Kreg Customer Service and they reassured me that the drill bit was defective and shouldn't wear out anytime soon. They send me a spare bit and driver. I've increased my rating to 5 stars for a quality product and great customer service. While drilling blind holes can be time consuming vs just bridging the joint and using glue/screws, it's definitely worth it for a clean look. I have used the standard Kreg Jig for 3/4 plywood and board and have been happy with its performance. But it won't work for 2x stuff, not very well anyway. The HD version allowed for larger holes which when paired with KREG HD Bolts Kreg Tool Company SML-C2X250-125 HD 125 CT Pocket Hole Bolts provide a strong connection. The HD pocket holes and screws held up really well against the 4x4 mahogany. Overall I am happy with the kit and will use it again on future projects. However, I'm afraid it won't last too long. I took off one star (and was almost two) due to the durability of the kit. The drill works well, but after about 80 holes it started squeaking loudly in the jig - enough to put on hearing protection. The #3 square bit worked well with the Hitachi impact wrench. However, after about 80 Kreg HD props, it got round enough to keep bouncing. It would be nice if I could buy another one, but I can't find the exact one on Amazon.

  • Kreg Jig HD optimized for 2x4 and larger work pieces
Cons
