Review on Retroflag SUPERPi Case: Deluxe Edition UCase Set with Wired Controller for Raspberry Pi 3B+ 2B 3B by Austin Hampton

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Amazing case! Amazing controller!

Beautiful suitcase! 4.5 stars! This case can also be a great TV box. Why? The shutdown and reset script is really easy to install and works great. In 5 days of use there was not a single failure. This surprised me because I didn't expect it to be so smooth. 4.5 stars but if I had to round up or down, it was definitely round up! Why 4.5? The screw holes for attaching the Raspberry Pi and the case do not appear to be pre-drilled. So I'm worried that you won't be able to parse it multiple times. But for the price and considering how good the controller is, I can forgive that for now. Let's see how it holds up in the future. I ended up installing a fan in mine (not shown) because I didn't want the situation when I'm playing with friends to break things and make it overheat. I didn't want to do the necessary testing with and without the fan (nor did I want to take it apart multiple times to do the testing), so I just installed the fan. After adding background music to my retro menu system at low volume (search online for available great tutorials), I can't hear the fan noise over the music. Ok controllers! I ended up buying a second deluxe set for a second controller and as a spare case. I really like the case and the controller. You can put a spare Raspberry Pi 2 in it. Retroflag, please sell the controller as a separate device. For me, the L and R buttons were the main difference from the Buffalo controllers I had. The nostalgia for the Superfamicon design made me feel like the SNES is a console my family couldn't afford as a kid. We had a console and I loved playing classics on it, but my family didn't buy a console again until the Play Station came out. This is how I associate a controller with colored buttons with short gaming sessions with friends that I would like to last longer. It's so nice to play the classics from NES, SNES, Genesis and Play Station again! Things I dug out of my brain like Contra, Streets of Rage, Aladdin, Blood Roar 2, Jackie Chan's stuntman. It's great to play them in retro style! I have a dolphin emulator on my PC and it hasn't hooked me like this couch experience! To be clear, you don't need a case to enjoy Retropi on a Raspberry Pi sitting on your entertainment stand. However, I wasn't tempted to investigate until I saw this well put together solution. I know it's weird, but the shutdown and reset script did it for me. For my Plex/Kodi Raspberry Pi entertainment system, I was fine with it running 24/7, but the Retropie gaming system is what I need to just work, power on and off, loan to friends, or whatever always want. It's pretty user friendly now and I love exploring Retropies and learning more!
