I use two of these EDID emulators connected to my HDMI KVM switch (which I only use to share a second monitor between two computers) . Before I got them, the monitor "fell off" or "disconnected" from the computer when switching from the computer, which meant that everything that was on that monitor ended up on the computer's main monitor, which was *NOT* the functionality I wanted! Every time I switched the 2nd monitor to another computer I had to rearrange the windows all over again! At first I thought I would only need it for one of my computers because I had to use miniDisplayPort-to-HDMI. Adapter (the other computer had an HDMI port, so its cable was HDMI throughout) and I thought maybe it was an incompatibility (I've read that adapters can often cause problems). So I just bought one and at first thought it didn't work. That was because I plugged it into the switch's HDMI OUT port (the one that goes from the switch to the monitor). After some thought, I tried connecting it to the HDMI IN port (the one coming from the computer). IT WORKS OUT! YAY! But not for another computer (which had a "native" HDMI connector, so there was no adapter between them). I assumed the HDMI KVM switch was to blame and didn't do EDID emulation at all. So I bought another one of these emulators, hooked it up the same way as the first one (to the HDMI IN connector) and it worked straight away! I am very happy with these EDID emulators and hope they last a long time. Time!
