Review on Crafters Edge Q1089 Strip Cutter by Jessica Lewis

I bought this at risk as there are no photos of this product or reviews anywhere. I was hoping it would be a stamp with a thick foam backing. But that's not the case. It's a thin, weak metal matrix and doesn't cut fabric very well. It leaves deep grooves in cutting boards and self-healing mats, but fabric is cut unevenly. It claims to be able to cut up to 6 layers of fabric, but will not cut creases when trying to cut a strap. It cuts a layer or two at a time, but that's not what I need. I've run it a few times and tried every sandwich combo I could think of and tried them at different pressure settings on my Xcut Xpress and gotten a couple of half cut strips that I have to get to with scissors. There are almost no instructions (except for New Year's crafts). The closest to the instructions for this thing are the generic 3 pictures showing how to use the die cutting machine (nothing specific to cutting strips). The pictures show that you should place the stamp on the top of the fabric, not the bottom. I tried this thinking my bad experience was the result of user error, but when it went through my machine the die got a U shape and my fabric still wasn't completely cut. I was able to smooth it out a bit, but it's still warped. I have a Sizzix Bigz strip cutter and it does a great job cutting strips for quilting. The only reason it gets two stars instead of one is that I can use it to make small individual strips of fabric or construction paper, but not to tie quilts.
