Works great but don't rely on the full check valve

I've been using it for about a year, it's holding up perfectly. It's a bit noisy - I can hear it in the basement from my living room right above. But it doesn't have to run for more than 20 seconds to get rid of my washing machine's waste water, so I don't have a problem with that. But I have a few complaints about the installation, so I'm deducting a star: 1. As mentioned, you'll need to supply your own external piping and fittings - there are three PVC fittings in the unit (one for the inlet, one for the outlet and one for ventilation) and the rest is up to you. My setup required 3 additional trips to Home Depot for various additional components, but someone who knows what they're doing could probably plan better than me. 2. You will definitely need to add your own check valve on the outside of the pump. DO NOT RELY ON THE INTERNAL CONTAINS. I pump the waste water from the laundry about 8 feet down the drain and every time the pump shuts off I hear the water rush back into the pump. It eventually started leaking from the top until I added an extra check valve. No more trouble. Verdict: It works great and seems to hold up well for a year after regular use. However, there may be a problem with the installation.
