I have a 36 gallon front tank. My standard tube bulb blew and I went to petco for a replacement. The replacement bulb on the one you just bought has already burned out. Another consumer sent back a defective bulb and I was unlucky. Tired of wasting time on trips to the Petco, I ordered this lightbar for myself. I gutted the casing I used to hold the original fluorescent bulb and placed the light bar underneath the light box. That works great. I like the new lighting. It is very bright and makes my aquarium look like a marine aquarium. My plants love it too. I have goldfish and a java fern in my aquarium. Java installations started after switching to it.
