Great Activated Carbon at a great price

This is a super activated carbon filter material for aquarium filters. The granules are approximately 1/8 inch in diameter and 1/4 to 1 inch in length. The granules are hard and don't crumble into dust like others I've tried. This is the cheapest charcoal I've found for my filters, while also being the best I've found. This is a business that cannot be won. I use it for biological filtration, not chemical absorbents. I've found it works better than bio balls or ceramic rings and costs less than most ceramic rings. Beneficial bacteria get some of the nutrients they need from carbon, which allows them to grow faster and use up more of the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate from the water. it is exchanged regularly. This is not entirely correct. After some time of use, the charcoal will no longer absorb chemicals from the water, but will not increase the amount of those chemicals in the water. If you use it to absorb unwanted chemicals from aquarium water, you will need to replace the activated carbon regularly. The length of the change interval depends on how "dirty" the water is and how "clean" you need to keep it. Most freshwater fish adapt better to changing conditions, while saltwater aquariums should have near-perfect conditions. When replacing activated charcoal filter media, old activated charcoal makes a great addition to your houseplant soil.
