Review on πŸ§€ Westmark Schnitzel Mouli Rotary Grater: Convenient Gray One-Size Tool by Summer Hendricks

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This is a great product that shreds cheese and frozen butter in no time.

Honestly I don't know how I did without this product before. I've taken up cooking as a hobby over the past few years, and one of the first recipes I tried to perfect was old-fashioned buttermilk biscuits. After a lot of reading/research/unsatisfactory trials, one of the common denominators in the top rated recipes was the use of cold butter. There were also small pieces. But if you're going to freeze a pack of butter, then try cutting it into small cubes, that's it. Spring. difficult! Oil. And we cut. And keep it cold during and after cutting. This machine easily takes half a pack of butter and grinds it in about 10-15 seconds. Grind it straight into the bowl of flour and you'll be able to add the buttermilk in no time. Works fast, keeps oil cold. I got 4 stars for the ease of cleaning - it's not difficult, but grinding the butter leaves a small amount of residue. You need to wash it in hot water to keep it clean. The same with the cutting disc. It's not difficult, but running it underwater and shaking it off isn't easy. Three stars/suction - I struggled a bit with this rating. As already mentioned, I grate frozen butter directly into the mixing bowl so the folding metal legs and suction cup feet don't snag. In fact, they even get in the way a bit. This is not a fault of the product, just the way I use it. I wish the metal legs were removable to get them out of the way. But when grating cheese (another early project was allspice and spreadable cheese, and it worked!) the product doesn't really sit high enough above the counter to grate much cheese while the product sticks to the counter. Suction is decent (it can get sluggish at times), but you'll move it from time to time to clear the way for more cheese. Ease of Use - The product handle drops easily onto the slicer/grater blade and is held in place by gravity. Only. If you try to lift the knot by the handle, it will pop out, which will also detach the cutting blade from the base. It's okay, you get used to it quickly and learn to deal with it. But it's still a bit cumbersome. The handle is long enough to have plenty of leverage and rotates easily with hard cheese or frozen butter. But the angle is a little strange, just a little uncomfortable. Perhaps a big part of this is that I use it on my mixing bowl instead of tacking it to the counter. I admit that the ease of use might be better for those who use this product in a more traditional way. It's not difficult to use and it's fast. Just a bit awkward when used like me. So there are all reasons why I don't give this wonderful product a blanket five stars. I love it anyway! It allows you to grind quickly, several orders of magnitude faster than the old manual graters. Cleans up quickly and is pretty easy to use. And you can see that it is reliably made to last. If I hadn't bought it yet, I would buy it today and be completely satisfied with the product.
