If I knew then what I know now I would have bought something else

At first glance the headlights look OK but when I installed them I was very disappointed. When I ordered them I thought they at least came with some instructions but there was nothing in the box except 2 lightbulbs and a small bag of gear. How to mount them is something you have to figure out for yourself, which led to the biggest disappointment, which is the mounting system. Instead of screws, the flashlights come with threaded rods (similar to a grub screw) that screw into threaded sockets on the back of the flashlight. In theory, that could be fine, but if you screw the nut tight onto that headless bolt, you can very easily knock the ring right out of the light's plastic body. The solution I came up with is to pull out all the rings and buy stainless steel screws with epoxy in the holes from the inside. This is possible because you can unscrew and remove the front panel from the light to access the inside of the back panel. Likewise. Perhaps the wires are adequate for the light load that LED lights consume, but this flimsy wire strikes me as cheap and inadequate. I'm happy to spend a few cents more for 18 gauge or even better 16 gauge wire. I also don't think the lights will be waterproof so I sealed all the connections with clear silicone. If I had known what I would have to go through to get out of a project with lamps that had at least a half chance to last I would have bought something else.

Pros
  • IP68 Waterproof and submersible (we updated it this year): There is no screw on the lampshade, the trailer LED lights are fully welded, the circuit board of the tail Light is a seal. We chipped this taillight in the middle to prevent water ingress, so water flows into the outer lens interlayer, but is prevented by the isolated chips. The drain hole serves to suck out all the water. This ensures that the water does not damage the diodes or the circuit board;
Cons
  • Requires socket
