We bought a house with six Craftmade ceiling fans, only two of which had a remote control. It was easy to set up the DIP switches so each remote could control multiple fans, but it quickly became tiresome to bring a remote from another room to adjust the fan in the room I was in. I was looking for replacement remote controls. The first brand I tried didn't work. Be sure to buy a remote controller for the DC fan. Then I bought one of these. At first I thought I bought another piece of junk because it didn't work initially, but then I noticed that there is a dip switch above the normal code dip switches that defaults to 'on'. I have no idea what this switch does, but I turned it off (it's not marked "off" but I assume it's not in the "on" position, i.e. off), and then the remote control has successfully communicated with the fan. Of course, make sure the code dip switches on the remote match the fan. To do this, you need to remove the bottom cover of the fan to check the setting of the four micro-switches, and then set the remote control accordingly. The remote control switches are located in the battery compartment. This remote is better than the original as it offers six level settings while the original only offers three. As with Goldilocks, I sometimes find the mids too low and the highs too high, but somewhere in between is just right. (I can't tell the difference between the "I" and "II" settings, maybe just some reviewers complained about the reverse button being under the battery cover. I have no problem with that. How often do you change the direction of your A when needed just slide open battery cover and press button is not screwed etc. Finally a few words about price , and he bid on all positions He asked $100 for the fan plus parts to add a remote control to each fan. His only solution was to add a new receiver to each fan that would work with its own remote. So while I find these replacement remotes are expensive, they are MUCH cheaper than installing a new receiver.
