These foam mats can be easily connected and arranged as desired. You can remove all centers and swap them with each other to create any color combination you want. I used it to make the floor in the "Baby Jail" playpen and my 10 month old has fallen a few times and doesn't even cry when her head hits the soft foam. We have dogs and some hair got caught in the playpen and I was able to use my regular styrofoam tile vacuum with no problems. My 5 year old daughter loved using the leftover extra tiles to build blocks and tunnels for her to crawl through. One caveat: I first tried using this on the edge of a thin carpet, leaving most of it on the carpet and a little off the edges. The tiles continued to bend, separating where the carpet had broken. We ended up getting the rug out from under it and now it's not curved at all so be sure to use it on a flat surface.
