Difficult to get the right amount of food for each feeding

We bought this for our small marine aquarium (a clown fish, mint shrimp, snail and hermit crab). It works great now but it took my husband a lot of effort to release the right amount of food. The first setting we tried released NO food. The next installation produced 4 times more food than our aquarium needs! My husband had to take it apart and use his tools to adjust it to dispense just the right amount of food. That issue aside, however, it works great and we've returned home from every trip to find our tank in good shape.
