Review on Ayaport Marine Trailer Tie-Down Straps for Kayaks and Canoes - Transom and Bow/Stern Securing - 2 Pack, Black by James Lighting

Cam is slipping, hooks are already rusting

I ordered these to replace aging transom straps for my boat and boat trailer. Upon arrival I noticed that the hooks were less durable than the set I was replacing (the hooks on the new straps are thinner). The band itself is like the smooth material of a seat belt, which bothered me a bit because the cam bar was smooth and didn't have knurling to grip the band. The cam handle was also less durable and much thinner than my original. Also, the seat belt on the back of the camera is barely wide enough to prevent the camera from rubbing against your body. I have used these tail straps for my last two runs and have been very disappointed so far. The plastic/vinyl coating on the hooks has already worn away in places and the rust is visible and growing, although they never come into contact with water. These things slip off unless you strap your nose on VERY tight, the two times I used them they slipped off even though they are sized for my boat. My only guess is that due to bumps in the road and things like that, they started to skid, causing the trailer to bounce. I would not recommend these crossbars.
