I had a lot of ski bindings in my 50's. and this trunk is very similar to my Thule trunk on my other car. But I needed a longer ski rack for my truck. BUT NOTE THIS: 1. The lock isn't as pretty as the Thule one and the key doesn't come out when the lock is in the open position. The key will not be released until the lock is turned to the locked position. ----- In other words, you CANNOT put your skis in the trunk and leave it unlocked. 2. Hex head bolts rusted in week-long Oregon weather. I bought all new quality stainless steel screws for my unit and replaced them. It costs about $10.3. I first used it during one of our typical Northwest snowstorms. The castle is frozen! So be sure to "cure" your locks and carry some lighters in the car to warm up the key. I also love this shelf! Thule is a much better product, but if you're on a budget and/or don't care, then it's worth it! --Law!
