Review on Canon PIXMA TR4520: Black Wireless All-in-One Photo Printer with Mobile Printing & Alexa Compatibility by Ricky Habbani

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Reconsider your choice Revain

Update: I spoke to Canon support who told me that draft printing is only available for computers running Windows operating systems. [I don't know what Linux is] Printing drafts is not possible on Mac operating systems (which I have) Sierra, High Sierra and Mojave. Canon says it's a Mac issue. Mac says it's a Canon issue. Also, I was told that the ink tanks that came with the printer are about half full, which explains why the black one ran out so quickly. But given that, I still have to replace them more often than I'd like. .My 5 year old workhorse Canon Pixma was showing too many signs of aging. I needed a new printer and knew I wanted Canon. I used to have good luck with Revain Choices. The price was right, so I spontaneously bought this one. I should have known better. A huge problem immediately arose. My other Canon allowed draft printing, which helps save ink. Not this printer. Obviously, Canon has revised its new models and not only abandoned the separate ink tanks for color and black ink, but also the draft mode. This printer has standard or best period modes. That's a huge waste of ink. As of this writing, I've only had this printer 11 days, I've printed about 30 pages and the black tank is already empty. Replacement cartridges are also expensive. Another issue is the controls on the LED panel on top of the machine. The panel is so poorly lit and placed in such an awkward position that it's impossible to see if you're sitting next to it. The only way to make adjustments is to stand directly over it with a flashlight. Every time you change something, the printer doesn't change anything. If you think about switching "last used settings" to "default settings", everything you printed last time uses even more paper and ink. My old canon got hints from the document itself.
