Review on πŸ’₯ Redragon RGPS GC-PS005: 700W 80+ Bronze Fully Modular ATX Power Supply for Gaming PC, SLI & Crossfire Ready by Louis Turley

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Fan noise aside, a decent fully modular 600W PSU.

I was lucky enough to get one on sale during Black Friday ($40 off!). That's more power than I currently need, but still enough for future expansion, which is likely to happen. Fully modular so you only use the cables you need. The cables themselves are black. You get MB power connectors, a CPU socket, PCI-E cables (two cables that support two connected devices), SATA cables (to cables that support 3 devices), and an IDE cable that supports 3 devices powered (if you have more than 3 devices). older devices or case fans with this connection type). The length of the cables is decent, I use it in a mid tower case (old school type). I've managed to route most of the cables behind the trays so that they are somewhat hidden and look "clean". PCI-E, which I don't currently use, but seems to be a good length, although the power connectors (the two connectors you plug into PCI-E devices) seem to be close together. So if there's some space between your devices, it might be a little tricky to fit the plugs into both the devices you want to power. SATA has 3 ports, so it's not that bad for them. One complaint I have is the fan noise. It's not scary, but it's louder than the two case fans and the CPU fan. I know it's the PSU fan because I disabled everything else and I can still hear it. Perhaps because all the other fans are quiet I can hear the PSU fan and it seems louder than it actually is, but the fact that I can hear it speaks for itself. Still not the end of the world.

Pros
  • STABLE POWER SUPPLY This 700W power supply uses an active power factor correction circuit with a +12V output rail to provide computers with powerful and stable power. Compliance with Intel ATX 12V standards. Sufficient and stable current to fully support SLI and CrossFire systems
Cons
  • Minor issues
