This gate is of excellent quality. Strong, durable and the arc even makes them suitable for children's gates. We bonded the gate with chipboard to protect the doors and the gate stays in the door VERY well. There is no hesitation. There are just a few things I would like to know about this goal that influenced the star rating. If you have a baseboard instead of the gate, find another gate first. DO NOT BUY THESE! unless you want to bump against the ledge so it's completely flat on the floor. They have a bar that runs the full length of the floor. We didn't want to bump into our BRAND NEW bar, so we mounted it a little higher. So many people tripped over it and ripped it off the wall. One person was injured. No matter how many times you tell people, it will still happen. Second, there is a SERIOUS learning curve in discovering these things. It seems that only the people living here have mastered this art. It's definitely kid safe! But also proof for adults! We usually have to let friends, relatives, and vendors (plumbers, carpet cleaners, etc.) in and out of rooms. it's a pain Third, installing the gate is also an acquired skill. Each corner is individually tightened or loosened to secure in the doorway. If a corner is wrong, the entire gate will be disabled and the door will not be locked. So imagine our disappointment when the perfect balance of tension was found in the corners, only for someone to trip or step on that bottom bar and knock it to the ground. Tor is really great.
