Review on Hangman Anti Tip Furniture Falling Steel TK 400 2 by Josh Chenier

seems strong; *CRITICAL error* found in QC

We have 4 year old twins. I just used them to secure two dressers in bedrooms and two shelves (with very heavy items on them) in the garage. Anchor, split pin and bolt appear to be of excellent quality. The wall screws seem fine, they are 1.5" long, although given the thickness of the drywall and the thickness of the wall plug, maybe 0.5" longer would be better before the screw bites into the wall stud. Furniture screws are much shorter than they should be so as not to penetrate the thickness of the furniture. The wire seems good. However, at Wire, I discovered a critical quality control issue with one of the kits. Quality control with wire The wire is a mesh made of galvanized steel and naturally does not tear. The wire is mainly connected to the split pins by a metal hook with an eyelet. The eye hook is connected to the wire by crimping. This is probably the weakest point in the whole mechanism. And here I found the problem. For some reason one of the eyelet hooks was not crimped onto the steel wire. I took the wire out of the packaging, accidentally held it by one of the eye hooks and the eye hook slipped off! If I could install this kit without finding a fault, it would offer literally no protection. Worse, I would have a false sense of security. YOU SHOULD CHECK THIS, luckily only one of the 8 hooks used had this issue. Fortunately, a defect can also be detected by visual inspection before installation. Look at the eye hook hub and make sure it is slightly warped and not smooth and round. The deformation is caused by the crimping of the eyelet hook on the wire. If your eye hook is NOT deformed, it has not been crimped and therefore will not provide protection. The photos show that the defective eye hook is not crimped. I also recommend gently tugging at the furniture after installation to make sure nothing comes loose easily and to see how much your object is leaning. Wire and eye hooks!
