After purchasing the Sony A-100 I discovered how exceptional the Sony 18-200mm lens is. I still have all my Minolta AF lenses lying around, which is what prompted me to purchase the A-100, but I rarely actually take them out of their cases. The 18-200 is very sharp at the edges of the image at both ends of the zoom range, has very good color reproduction and contrast, has no barrel or pincushion distortion, and zooms smoothly. I travel all over the world with this camera and lens combo and have found I don't need anything else. However, when I saw a Sony 11mm/18mm wide-angle zoom lens pass Frankfurt Airport, I thought it might come in handy in those rare cases where 18mm isn't wide enough. Luckily I put the purchase on hold until I returned to the US where it was 50% of the euro price. This is another exceptional lens with amazing performance. As with any ultra-wide lens, there is a risk of straight vertical lines being distorted, but much less than I expected. 11mm/18mm is now in my travel kit. That's great.
