Review on CTEK (56-353) MULTI US 7002 12-Volt Battery Charger,Black: The Ultimate Charging Solution by Michael Montgomery

Revainrating 5 out of 5

NOT CORRECT. Overpriced 7 step charger.

According to CTEK when I emailed them about the lack of a 10 day float service Step 7. I was told it was removed from the programming due to CEC rules. Thanks to the infinite CA BS and those weak I-state fools, the rest of us are forced to lose whether we realize it or not. Without this 10-day float service (step 7), the impulse service (step 8) immediately switches the relay on and off 2-4 times a minute after charging, regardless of the battery, vehicle or installation condition. It's annoying to hear the click when loading, probably more dangerous if left unattended and I can't imagine how long it will wear out at this speed. But that's fine as the rep reminded me there was a 5 year warranty. I don't know about you, but I'm tired of seemingly good guarantees on cheap junk. You will not pass them on to your children. In my opinion the wires are too thin. As cheap as possible. Yes they will work and probably won't fire, but when I measured the full 6.5 amp output charge the wire was surprisingly warm. If you need the full 7 rated amps, this charger doesn't offer it. I will only be leaving the charger because it paid for itself by restoring a $200 battery for my BMW cousin, which was probably more of a skill of mine than the charger is that smart. It's not, but it saved me some work. Also, I no longer have the time or even the patience to look for a better charger, so I'm keeping it to myself. It seems the only options are more garbage anyway. I was going to buy 6-10 more 5 amp versions for my other cars and as gifts but after this experience I cannot support this company. They deliberately advertise the 7x charger as an 8x charger. Granted, they haven't updated the manual, packaging, or even the listing information to let people know they're getting less than expected. You then have to guess where step 7 is until you have trouble figuring it out. But let's make sure we change the product right away to kiss CA on the butt and not tell anyone. Use all the old literature and boxes to save CTEK more money at the expense of consumers. The only thing that annoys me is principle and deceit. Can't even make a note in the manual about changing the removed step. Overall I think this thing is very cheap in both design and build, but it costs twice as much as I think it should. It gets hot and has no ventilation so the electronics suffer from the heat but at least it's designed so I can take it out and charge the batteries in the rain! Make a naval unit if that's such a desirable trait. MADE IN CHINA
