Review on ๐ŸŒก๏ธ Maxiwatt Hotend Cylinder THERMISTOR: Efficient Circular Temperature Sensor by Devin Jirsa

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent volcano!

I've always disliked the offset heater block and heater element arrangement like all other printers. When I found this it was obvious that this was a much better design. They turn out to be just the right size to stack inside each other and use the volcano attachment! I am now putting out 80 watts of melting power with no drop in temperature. Insulation: I couldn't find silicone socks for this, so I wrapped a piece of fiberglass around the cores, which works great and lasts a lot longer. silicone ever could. CONS: Thermistor is not very good and not very accurate at high temperatures. Worse, the thermistor hole is 2.5mm in diameter, not 3mm like standard 3D printer thermistors. Ultimately my plan was to use a PT100 thermocouple so it can reach up to 500ยฐC (as detailed on the website) but unfortunately this limits me. Lost 1 star due to thermistor and orifice but other than that this is my route to heater cores which I will now use exclusively for all my printers.

Pros
  • 3D printer accessories
Cons
  • Not as thick as others
