Review on 🌑️ Enhanced Amprobe IR-730 Infrared Thermometer, Temperature Range -26F to 2282F, Ratio 30:1 by John Clark

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is a very affordable IR thermometer from a reputable manufacturer.

Very attractively priced infrared thermometer from a well-known manufacturer. So imagine my surprise when it arrived with a factory battery and when tested showed readings that differed by about 5-10 degrees (on suitable surfaces like walls, plastic, wood, etc.). The Amprobe has a few nifty downsides: (1) Backlit LCD screen which makes reading the temperature MUCH easier in brighter rooms. (2) Amprobe has a hold feature that helps conserve battery power. The hold function allows me to briefly pull the trigger (about 2 seconds) and release it. The temperature is measured, maintained and displayed on the LCD. I don't have to press and hold the shutter button, which drains the battery faster. (3) The Amprobe shows the maximum and minimum temperature. Holding the trigger records the maximum and minimum temperature. These temperatures can be accessed using the Min/Max button.

Pros
  • Outlet temperature measurement for heating and cooling systems
Cons
  • No power
