Review on πŸ”§ Dorman 425-176 Steering Shaft: Enhanced Performance for Select Models by Paul Freeman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Tired of your steering wheel sounding like it's about to fall apart - recommend this as a fix.

Purchased after the notorious knocking in the steering column at low speeds that has been widely reported on the Chevrolet Tahoe on several forums. GM knows this is an issue, but has not yet withdrawn the recall for the steering shaft replacement. If you're tired of hearing your steering wheel rattling and feeling like it's about to fall apart, this is your solution. The Dorman product is much heavier in construction and quality than OEM parts. The entire installation with the help of YouTube took about an hour in total to swap out. It was fairly easy to swap out and didn't require the recommended pin to hold the handlebars in place during installation. A rubber band was tied to the shifter to prevent the steering wheel from spinning freely and breaking the internal wiring. It is also recommended to tighten the bolts to the correct torque as this is a steering shaft and you want to make sure the safety mechanisms are in place in the event of an accident. All in all it was an easy install and no more knocking. My wife enjoys driving the Tahoe and we feel safer in return. In addition, the seller provided fast delivery, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable.
