Review on Inkbird Thermostat Temperature Controller Fermentation by Joseph Whiteman

October 2019 Update The sensor could not be replaced, resulting in the same issue as before. It's clearly a sensor, not a block. But I will not continue to buy replacement probes as this product tries to kill my fish every six months. Garbage. DO NOT BUY. Update April 2019 Just a few months later yesterday I found the temperature was over 77 degrees while the tank thermometer read 70 which is the backup heater setting. So the thing failed functionally. Maybe it's just a sensor or who knows what, but if you try to kill my fish you'll get negative feedback. Original review I use this thermostat to control my aquarium heating. I love that I can hang it in a prominent spot and easily know what the temperature is in the water without looking at the tiny numbers on the immersion thermometer. I also like the alarm function, it alerted me to at least one instance when the heater stopped working before the temperature was low enough to kill the fish. This allows me to use heaters that have a faulty internal thermostat, or just buy heaters with no thermostats and cut out the middleman. I also have a second heater in the tank set at a lower temperature as a backup just like everyone else. This item [NOT] completely eliminates the possibility of the heater thermostat sticking and overheating the tank. Use a backup thermometer to calibrate this. I bought a thermostat with a plug and a spare sensor. I also use these thermostats to control a hamster heater, vermicompost heater and also for camping where I use it to control a dehumidifier which I use as a heater when camping at electric campgrounds. I like it because it gives us warmth and removes the camping humidity factor.
