The ancient router I had in my router table died for good and it was actually the day after I bought it had JessEm Rout-R-Lift II router lift for 3-1/2" engines, JessEm #02310. So I needed another router too (big sigh). Although I'd prefer a 3.5L router. Wasn't considered because (a) my router lift accepts 3.5" motors and (b) larger router motors are more expensive (as are routers that can handle them properly). I considered a scenario where I'm returning the elevator I just bought and built my own elevator in probably a nanosecond and ordered this router and I'm not disappointed in the slightest I own and use 4 other routers (5 count dead) and this one works very decent. I was impressed with the finish of the router and prefer NOT to have a locking mechanism but would have preferred the two wrench approach, a feature this one has. So far (after installing it in the router table) it has worked quite satisfactorily on about a dozen projects. The hardest part was dado carving and making large diameter (1-1/2" diameter) rounds on a piece of 200 year old hickory wood (I had an ancestor who was a carpenter and inherited part of the warehouse goes by). He did never used.) The hickory was tough enough to make a 3.5hp table saw work hard even with a new WW2 blade (a freshly sharpened thin-kerf Fusion worked better than FWIW).But I could Cut 23/64" in about 3/16" increments with no issues, no wood burning, and no nasty surprises. Of the harder exotic woods, this router may not be up to the task, and I want at least 3.5 horsepower for the job I use it the most) I don't think I'll have any problems, I'm glad I bought this router (and it works very well with the Jessem lift - it's one of the designs for that lift). n goals): i I have no complaints and would buy again. With a router, I find it useful to have a curved wrench (I already had a set, so it was a lucky coincidence) and if you're going to be using it exclusively on a router, consider buying one. I have recommended it to other carpenters including a family member. Definitely recommended
