Review on 🐠 IceCap Dual Optical ATO: Advanced Auto Top Off Controller for Hassle-Free Aquarium Maintenance by Josh Zepeda

Physical installation was quite easy, all components are much smaller than I expected which is good. I have a tank with a rim and I really wanted the top water level to be at the start of the black rim, it took quite a bit of experimenting to get it but now that it's in place I had no problem. Now to the problem. ...The kit includes a built-in siphon switch that needs to be inserted somewhere in the tank-to-tank supply line. The manual states that water leaks when the pump is running, in other words when the ATO is doing its main job, water leaks from the system. The instructions don't say how much water comes out when the pump is running and I was very surprised to find there was a lot - enough that I had to use a mop to clean. The water doesn't even drip nicely through the pipe into the tank, it actually overflows from the siphon insert and hits my wall and some nearby outlets. Again, the manual mentions the fact that it leaks when running (no). there is criticism), but that doesn't describe how serious the leak is. The only solution I could think of (and haven't been able to) is to make sure the siphon breaker is below the top of the tank, but above the maximum height you ever intended for filling the tank, so there are no leaks fall back into the reservoir. The problem I'm having is that having already cut the pipe (to insert the siphon breaker) I don't have the right combination of remaining pipe lengths to do what I described above as a solution. It would be nice if the manufacturer/retailer could contact me with a suggestion for a new handset - I will try to get in touch with them. Other than that, I'm happy with the product and recommend it, although I'd also recommend some changes to the instruction manual.
