The instructions are a little weird to understand - just takes a second to get. Remote works wonderfully and you can turn the top half off at anytime but I thought it looked really neat. Otherwise it shows just a black screen like your TV is off. Still pretty neat and when it's off you can't tell that the fake flame is there.This was able to heat a FROG (front room over garage) in no time at all and keep it warm. We actually used it downstairs as well and it heated the living room really well too.It is quiet when running and oscillating. It will probably swivel about the length of the bed which is really good. It sits up and is nice and narrow so there's really no real threat of knocking it over but we did test that feature and it kicked off so the safety features in place work really well.I would definitely recommend this for any room in the house. If you have an open floor plan 2 heaters (1 at each side) would easily heat the entire room. This heater easily heats a normal sized room and a little oversized FROG as well.
