Works well but keyboard shortcuts are annoying

EDIT: After contacting IOGear support I was told that the product no longer supports keyboard shortcuts which as I mentioned below doesn't work for me function. I deduct a star for that. I bought this KVM after buying a cheaper one that didn't work well when switching between Linux desktop and laptop/dock. Eventually I found a blog post that mentioned it works, and it does. Switching takes a few seconds but is acceptable. For use with a traditional Inland and Kensington USB wired keyboard and mouse, plus a ViewSonic 20" plain flat panel display and Logitec Z623 speakers. I can run 1600x900 on both computers. I had screen resolution issues when trying to replace/update the video drivers on one of my boxes (more specifically, I was trying to replace the open source nouveau Nvidia drivers with proprietary Nvidia drivers via akmod). I fixed it by updating the drivers and restarting the car. with everything plugged directly into it, and then switch back to the KVM ports. Subsequent reboots worked fine with the KVM connected. I might try updating without a KVM connection later to see if it works better. I've also noticed annoying crackling from my speakers when the volume is too high, but I turned the volume down enough to get rid of the crackling and compensated by increasing the volume at the OS/app level, which seems fine. My biggest complaint, and maybe I'm doing something wrong, is that the keyboard shortcuts don't work as advertised. The manual says that ScrLock+ScrLock+Enter should take you to the "next port while the computer is on" but instead it takes me to the next port regardless of whether there's anything on it or not. Instead I used ScrLock+ScrLock+Number+Enter to get the port number since I only have 2 computers connected instead of 4. The manual also says that ScrLock+ScrLock+K+Enter should switch KVM. no sound switching, but that just leaves me with lights flashing on my keyboard. The keyboard shortcuts are also a bit long and awkward. Too bad I can't change them. I suspect I'm doing something wrong as I haven't seen anyone complain about this yet, but I can't figure out what and the guide didn't help (seems like it should be pretty easy). In the end I think I'll call support. I also find the keyboard shortcuts to be a bit clunky and I would have preferred a hardware toggle, but that's just a minor annoyance.
