For the price I thought I would get a better toaster than my old one. But now I wish my old one hadn't blown. This toaster is suitable for regular, store-bought bread. It cooks evenly and you don't have to fiddle. However, I am a person who loves toaster frozen waffles and this is definitely not a good toaster for those. The waffles protrude beyond the heating coils, so that portion of the waffle is only thawed, not fried. You have to play around and flip the waffles to get the edges toasted. However, the inside of the waffle is overcooked. I don't think this would be a good toaster for homemade or baked bread as these loaves are often larger than shelf brands and the slices protrude from the top of the toaster. I wasn't impressed with the defrost function either, as it doesn't matter if I'm toasting frozen waffles. So be careful depending on what you want to fry. I'm keeping it because my husband loves the way he toasts store bought bread and if that's all you want to toast then you'll love this toaster. But one more thing: this is a very, very light weight toaster. So when you press the buttons you have to hold the toaster or it will slide off the counter. The sides get quite warm, so this might not be the right toaster for kids if they need to hold onto it when breaking off and pushing out the toasted item, or want to change the darkness selection knob. As a result, my husband likes this toaster but I don't.
