The Triumph 17 is a phenomenal shoe. It's soft - so soft - and breathes really well. I was a big fan of ISO 3. I loved these laces and the shoe was a good mix of Everrun TPU and firmer foam. I skipped the ill-fated ISO 4, but I liked ISO 5. The problem was the abundance of Everrun TPUs. It was essentially the same shoe as the Saucony Freedom, only slightly thicker to create a larger "pillow cushion". The effect was more rebound than press. Triumph 17 fixes all of that. Saucony opted for a more standard lacing system and dispensed with the aging ISO fit. The shoe bears more than a passing resemblance to Brooks Glycerin, but I've always considered the Saucony to be a softer (and better) shoe. The new outsole is soft, supple and supportive, creating the proverbial "cushion" feel so often referred to in ultra-plush neutrals. Saucony Triumph tops the list, ahead of Brooks Glycerin, Asics Gel Nimbus, New Balance 1080, Hoka One One Bondi 6 and more.
