If I hadn't gone to all the trouble to install this I would have just sent it back. There are so many issues with this design that it's hard to know where to start. Let's start with the quality of the gear included in the kit and the lack of gear. The hardware included in the kit uses Phillips head screws, not socket head screws. If they are high quality Phillips heads then this might not be a problem. except that it doesn't match the rest of the printer. The problem is these are low quality Phillips heads and I had to find the right bit. And believe me, I have a machine shop full of tools. Another problem is the lack of washers, both flat washers and lock washers. There are a few areas in this kit where flat washers and split washers are needed, so I had to make a trip to the hardware store for additional hardware. My kit was missing the small spacers that were supposed to fit under the pulleys, I temporarily printed something on my other printer until I found a better replacement. Or go to the shop and make some aluminum spacers. But by far one of the biggest problems with this design is the unsupported lead screw, I mean I can't believe this was actually designed by an engineer because any freshman knows better that there should be at least one ring under the bearing block to allow the bearing to be preloaded to eliminate any vertical play in the lead screw. down in camp - gravity and friction. Without a collar the lead screw is free to move up and down in the bearing making the whole system totally unusable as there is now just as much play in the gantry as there was before it was added. To solve this I printed a temporary bushing that fits under the bearing block. This simple small modification significantly reduced the Z-axis deflection on the new lead screw. So the end result is an extra color for the lead screw and some blurring. rs and maybe even better hardware will make this kit really good. So if you buy this be aware that you will need to print at least a T8 lead screw ring to constrain it and prevent vertical movement.
